The midsize pickup continues to be offered only as a crew cab with a five-foot bed, but two engines are available: the standard 270-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a 315-horsepower twin-turbo V-6. Both pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission with either rear- or four-wheel drive. (The high-performance Ranger Raptor variant is on tap for buyers looking for some genuine factory-built off-road capability, but we review that model separately.) The Ranger’s exterior styling hews closely to that of the full-size F-150, and the interior can be as spartan or luxurious as you desire, the top-level Lariat bringing plenty of leather, tech, and entertainment features for the upcharge.
